UFC starBryce Mitchell has taken an unconventional approach to healthcare by reaching out to fans in Arkansas for assistance with his recently injured nose.
In an Instagram video that quickly went viral across social media platforms, Mitchell displayed his visibly misaligned nose while making an unusual request to his followers.
“I need my nose straightened out. I just got it broken. You can tell, you know, it’s sideways or whatever,” Mitchell explained in the candid clip. “The doctors are so expensive. They’re like $2,000 or some s**t just to set my nose.”
The MMA star, known for his straightforward personality, continued his appeal directly to locals: “Can somebody in Searcy, by the grace of God, please set my nose back straight for free?”
Mitchell’s decision to bypass traditional medical care appears to be primarily financial. “If you can fix my nose for free in Searcy, Arkansas, right now, send me a message and I’ll probably go to you instead of the doctor,” he stated, expressing concern about the potential cost of professional medical treatment.
Healthcare expenses remain a significant concern for many Americans, with emergency treatments often resulting in substantial bills even for those with insurance coverage.
Fans reacted with a mixture of amusement, concern, and offers of assistance. Some medical professionals cautioned about the risks of improper nasal realignment, which can lead to breathing difficulties and cosmetic issues if not done correctly.
In a fortunate turn of events, Mitchell later updated fans that his situation had been resolved. “I apologize for looking for a cheapskate… my buddy did fix it for free,” he shared.
He also made a surprising comparison to a previous injury, noting, “When I [injured myself previously] it was only $1,250. That was the best $1,250 I ever spent.”
This isn’t the first time Mitchell has taken an unconventional approach to handling injuries. The UFC featherweight has built a reputation for his distinctive personality both inside and outside the octagon.
