UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell appeared on the Overdogs Podcast and opened up about a disturbing incident involving a woman he described as “possessed,” during which he said she threatened to frame him for something he did not commit.
Mitchell connected the experience directly to his conversion to Christianity, saying it occurred roughly six months before his match against Edson Barbosa, approximately five years ago.
Mitchell stated: “I was in an unfortunate situation with a woman. She was really just really crazy. And she was, I mean she was possessed. And I mean fully possessed.”
He described the physical destruction that unfolded inside his home. “She broke all my windows out, punched them out. She was covered in blood. She was saying, basically, she was going to frame me for attempting to m*rder her.”
Mitchell explained why he felt cornered and unable to call for help. “I couldn’t call the law because she was threatening to call the law. She said, ‘I’m going to call the law and tell him you stabbed me,’ and because at this point she’s covered in blood because she’s punched a window out, they’re going to show up to my house and they’re going to get you.”
When podcast hosts asked whether he had security cameras, Mitchell acknowledged he did not. “It would have solved it. You’re right. Would have solved that issue right then.”
He said the situation escalated further when the woman appeared to enter a trance-like state. “She began speaking in tongues, which is basically not English. She’s gibbering. It’s like she’s not speaking English sometimes.”
He then described feeling what he believed to be a demonic presence. “I actually felt the presence of a demon. And I said, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ, I command any evil to leave.’ She immediately stopped and immediately left. And this was after an hour-long argument.”
Mitchell emphasized that nothing he said prior had any effect. “For an hour I’m telling her to get out of my house. Get out of my house. Leave. Leave. Leave. None of that’s working. She’s tearing the house down. And I said one time, ‘In the name of Jesus, I command any evil to leave.’ And she walks out the door after that.”
He reflected on why he turned to prayer in that moment. “I ran out of options. I had literally no other options because she had already said she was going to call the law. I knew that the cops are going to be there. I’m going to get arrested. They’re going to say that I tried to kill her. I already knew that was going to happen.”
Mitchell said the experience fundamentally changed his life and became the foundation of his Christian faith.
