The mixed martial arts community is mourning the loss of Allan Nascimento, who passed away at 34 after an apparent heart attack while sleeping.
The Brazilian flyweight was discovered unresponsive on Monday morning. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but their attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
“Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the UFC said in a statement. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, team-mates and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Nascimento had been competing with the UFC since 2021, building a respectable career in the organization’s flyweight division. His most recent appearance came in June, when he faced Mitch Raposo in a closely contested bout that ended in a split-decision loss.
Over the course of his professional career, Nascimento compiled an overall record of 22 victories against seven defeats. During his five-year tenure with the UFC, he secured four wins while dropping two contests.
Beyond his own career, Nascimento was also deeply connected to the Brazilian MMA scene through his work at Chute Boxe, one of the country’s most renowned teams. He trained under coach Diego Lima and shared the mats with several prominent UFC athletes, including former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and current lightweight contender Elves Brener.
His connection with Oliveira went beyond simply being teammates, with the two developing a close friendship through years of training together. Following news of Nascimento’s death, Oliveira paid tribute to his longtime training partner on social media, describing him as a brother he had gained through the game.
“Today I lost a brother that the combat game gave me,” Oliveira wrote. He also thanked Nascimento for being by his side, sharing the mats and corners with him, and for the time they spent together outside of training.
Brener, another of Nascimento’s teammates at Chute Boxe, also shared an emotional tribute. He remembered Nascimento as an incredible person and reflected on the sadness his passing had brought to the entire team.
“Thank you for the wonderful journey, brother,” Brener wrote. “You were always an incredible person, and today is an extremely sad day for all of us at Chute Boxe. I will carry you in my heart forever, champion.”
Chute Boxe also released a statement honoring Nascimento, remembering him not only as a dedicated competitor but also as a friend and teammate who earned the respect of those around him.
