In an episode of the Lytes Out podcast, former UFC star Matt Lindland made startling claims about UFC President Dana White, describing him as a “demonic individual.”
“He’s a demonic individual,” Lindland stated bluntly during the interview. “He’s definitely possessed by demons. I mean, demons are real and fallen angels exist for sure to walk the earth.”
The Olympic silver medalist and MMA veteran didn’t hold back when discussing his turbulent relationship with the UFC boss, adding that White is “just not my type of dude to be quite honest.”
Lindland detailed the circumstances that led to his first firing from the UFC, which occurred when he was scheduled to fight Joe Doerksen. According to Lindland, he had been promised a title shot against Rich Franklin if he won the fight, yet was inexplicably moved to an undercard position just before the event.
The situation escalated when Lindland refused to immediately sign a contract addendum during fight week that would have prevented him from displaying his gaming company sponsor, which was paying him $30,000 – twice his fight purse of $15,000. The UFC claimed the sponsor competed with MGM, though Lindland noted the organization later worked with gaming companies themselves.
“I’ll get to that next week, it’s fight week right now,” Lindland recalled telling UFC officials about the contract addendum. “Not a priority for me.” This refusal, according to Lindland, became “their justification for releasing me from my contract.”
Lindland also mentioned that White later attempted to bring him back for “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show, but after initially agreeing to go to Las Vegas for medical examinations at the UFC’s expense, Lindland ultimately decided he wasn’t interested in returning to work with the organization.
