Former UFC star and analyst Tom Lawlor has praised a spectacular technical sequence from veteran Japanese competitor Ayaka Hamasaki at RIZIN Landmark 10 in Nagoya, Japan.
Hamasaki, who previously held championships in DEEP JEWELS, INVICTA FC, and RIZIN, showcased her elite grappling prowess against South Korea’s Yu Ri Shim with a sequence that Lawlor dubbed “the best MMA technique of the weekend.”
“Ayaka Hamasaki with a collar tie->knee to the stomach->Front headlock->foot sweep->lat whip uchimata->kimura/double wrist lock FINISH❗️” Lawlor detailed on social media. “THIS is how to attack from the clinch from the former DEEP JEWELS, INVICTA, and RIZIN champion.”
The impressive victory came via kimura submission in the second round at the Nagoya International Exhibition Center. The event took place simultaneously with major international events, demonstrating the global reach of professional MMA competition.
Hamasaki, 42, added another highlight to her decorated career, which includes multiple championship reigns. Her opponent, the 30-year-old Shim, who competed as Road FC’s second atomweight champion, was unable to counter the veteran’s technical mastery in their 49kg matchup.
