UFC vet Jake Shields claims IDF tried to entrap him

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Jake Shields has claimed that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) tried to entrap him during a visit to Israel. Shields has now turned his attention to his own experiences in the Middle Eastern country.

During a recent interview, Shields recounted his trip to Israel, stating that he was shown around and treated to a good time, which he believes was part of a broader effort to ensnare him. “They took me around, showed me all these great places, and then they brought me to a party where I think they tried to blackmail me, tried to get me to wear a little hat,” Shields said.

The fighter further alleged that the IDF attempted to pressure him into engaging with a young woman, who they claimed was 19 years old but appeared much younger. “They threw this girl in my lap, and it didn’t feel like a regular fan situation,” Shields stated. “They were really pushy about it, and I was like, ‘No, no, it’s good.’ But they were so pushy, and it just felt really weird and didn’t feel anything natural about it.”

The former UFC star’s allegations against the IDF raise serious questions about the tactics and motives of the Israeli government.

Previously Israeli MMA veteran Haim Gozali posted a provocative image of an Israeli missile bearing Shields’ name, following earlier controversial posts targeting Muslim MMA stars. Shields responded by calling Gozali a “cowardly Israeli fighter” and challenging him to a fight, accusing Gozali of avoiding training sessions and of being defeated by a 13-year-old. In a video, Gozali dismissed the threats and insults he received, defended his posts, and expressed readiness to face top Muslim stars in bare-knuckle bouts. Shields further criticized Gozali, labeling him a “coward” who harms children, and faced backlash for his pro-Palestine stance.
