UFC Vegas 66 Highlights: Caceres lives up to Bruce Lee comparison with head kick KO

Alex Caceres also goes by the nickname “Bruce Leeroy” which invites a lot of the comparison.

At age 34, Caceres is a veteran in the MMA business. His MMA record consists of 20 wins, 13 losses and 1 no contest.

He went into tonight having lost a decision to Sodiq Yusuff back in March. This snapped his 5 win spree and considerably slowed down his momentum.

He was matched with Julian Erosa for UFC Vegas 66. Erosa also has a ton of experience under his belt with 28 wins and 10 losses.

Erosa was on a three win spree heading into tonight having last lost to Seung Woo Choi in 2021.

Caceres has been with the UFC for over a decade. He started in backyard scraps in Miami earning his reputation the hard way.

Erosa initially tried to control of the center of the Octagon as Caceres was content to move around. Erosa ran in with a combination and caught Caceres, causing him to reset.

Caceres then threw a lead left hand that missed, but followed it quickly with a left high kick that caught Erosa clean on his chin inviting the Bruce Lee comparison.

Caceres layered on some ground and pound after and it was enought to call it a day. He ended up securing a performance of the night bonus from UFC brass earning an extra $50,000.

The action was stopped at 3:04 in the first round.

“I feel good,” Caceres said afterwards.

“I feel the same way. I want to feel the same way even if I lose. We’re all one. We’re all free. We’re all human. I’m scared, I’m not calm. Just being on one leg, it’s a little easy for me.”
