Bobby Green came into this fight as a massive underdog, and perhaps with good reason. The main event was a one-sided beatdown.
Shortly after the fight started, Islam Makhachev swarmed Green.
During the first takedown attempt, Green went in for an unadvised guillotine choke while also having hos feet together. This made Makhachev’s job of getting Green down a lot easier.
On the ground, the Russian fighter showed everyone why he is considered one of the best in the world. Islam easily went through Green’s guard and mounted the American.
From there Makhachev kept dropping blows until the ref called the fight.
Makhachev is now tied with the champion Charles Oliveira for most wins in a row (10), and also, has had 4 stoppages in a row.
At the post-fight interview, Makhachev thanked Green for stepping up last notice and saving the card, after Beneil Dariush pulled out of the fight due to an injury.
He also stated that he is not that interested in fighting Dariush next, and instead, he wants to go for the belt.
“When I have the belt, Dariush can come to me”.
