In the last fight of the preliminary card for UFC 49, Bahamontes put on a masterful performance.
The Chilean used his 6’1″ height to keep total control of the fight, picking Zhu Rong apart from outside.
After being dominated for two rounds, Rong came to the third round decided to take Bahamontes down to the ground.
It was then that Bahamontes showcased that he is not only a striker but a competent wrestler as well.
In the first takedown, Bahamontes quickly got back to his feet after sweeping Rong from the guard.
Later in the round, Rong went for another takedown, which Bahamontes not only stuff, but also locked in a variation of a “power guillotine” from an unusual angle.
The “power guillotine” is a choke similar to a guillotine but with the squeeze of the “rear-naked choke”.

Bahamontes is now 2-1 in the UFC, and is cementing himself as a prospect for the organization.
