UFC flyweight contender Brandon Royval has delivered a critique of the proposed White House fight event. He compared the spectacle to the dystopian “Hunger Games” films and declared he wants no part in performing for billionaires and politicians.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Royval didn’t hold back when asked about the possibility of fighting at the White House.
“I don’t give a f**k about fighting at the f**king White House,” the five-time Fight of the Night recipient stated bluntly. “I want to fight in front of big crowds, bro.”
The Colorado-based star expressed deep skepticism about the nature of such an event, questioning both its appeal and its audience. “How big can the White House even have of a stadium?” Royval asked, before noting that the event would likely be limited to invited guests rather than true MMA fans.
What followed was perhaps the most pointed criticism yet from an active UFC star regarding the proposed White House card. “I don’t give a f**k about any of our political figures right now,” Royval declared. “To fight in front of him just seems like some f**king Hunger Games type of s**t.”
The comparison to the popular dystopian franchise, where tributes fight to the death for the entertainment of wealthy elites, struck a chord with the fighter’s concerns about who would be watching.
“I don’t give a f**k to fight in front of a bunch of fu**ing billionaires and rich people that f**king could give a f**k or less about me and probably throw parlays,” he continued. “F**k you guys. I want to fight in front of people that are Raw Dog fans or fans of MMA and that could relate to me.”
Royval made clear his political independence, stating he doesn’t care about impressing politicians from either party. “I don’t give a f**k about impressing any politicians. I don’t care about the presidents. None of them. I really don’t f**king want to go fight in the White House if I’m being honest.”
The fighter even added a darkly comedic note about potential risks, joking that as someone of Mexican heritage, he might be “suspiciously arrested” by ICE, referencing recent deportation operations.
“I’m too Mexican looking. The ICE is f**king suspiciously arresting f**k,” he quipped. “Who knows, bro. Next, you know, I’m in Mexico. I don’t even speak Spanish.”
Royval’s comments represent a refreshing departure from the typical fighter response to high-profile opportunities. While many athletes might jump at the chance to perform at such a prestigious venue, the 33-year-old prioritized authenticity and connection with genuine fight fans over political spectacle.
The remarks come as Royval prepares for his upcoming bout against Manel Kape at UFC Vegas 106. Currently ranked in the flyweight division, Royval has built a reputation not just for exciting matches but also for his unfiltered personality and willingness to speak his mind.
