UFC star hid in a “dog crate” during arrest for felony home invasion

UFC’s Sedriques Dumas was arrested in April following what authorities describe as a domestic altercation with the mother of his child. New details from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department paint a troubling picture of the incident that led to multiple serious charges.

According to the police report obtained by MMA Fighting, officers responded to a disturbance call from Dumas’ ex-girlfriend. She reported that the UFC star entered her residence through an unlocked front door, followed by aggressively opening the back door. The situation escalated when Dumas allegedly grabbed her phone forcefully from her hand while she was speaking with her current boyfriend.

The target stated that after demanding her phone back, Dumas reportedly told her she would be “going to jail with him” and attempted to remove a ring from her finger. When unsuccessful, he allegedly threw her around the room before ripping a necklace from her neck and leaving the premises.

The report indicates Dumas initially drove away with the target’s phone and necklace but returned shortly thereafter to throw the phone onto the lawn. The target then asked a passerby to contact authorities. Responding officers noted the victim was visibly upset, “crying and shaking,” and displayed fresh scratches and bruises.

Further complicating matters, police documented text messages from Dumas’ current girlfriend to his ex-girlfriend, allegedly attempting to dissuade her from pressing charges that could result in Dumas’ incarceration.

The most bizarre element of the arrest came when officers located a vehicle matching Dumas’ at his current girlfriend’s residence. In a scene straight out of a crime drama, law enforcement reportedly found the UFC fighter hiding inside a dog crate in a backyard shed.

Following the investigation, authorities filed multiple charges against Dumas, including home invasion/robbery, possession of weed  over 20 grams, possession of d*ug paraphernalia, domestic violence battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The incident occurred shortly after Dumas’ professional setback at UFC 314, where he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Michal Oleksiejczuk. He currently remains in custody with bail set at over $500,000, and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 23.

Dumas has been arrested many times yet the UFC made no statement about the latest development.
