UFC on ESPN+ 63: Claudio Puelles pulls off a nasty kneebar against Clay Guida

The co-main event for the exciting UFC on ESPN+ 63 certainly delivered.

Claudio Puelles faced the old time veteran Clay Guida in the co-main event of the night.

During the contest, the 40-year-old Clay Guida tried to bring the action Puelles from the start. The Hall of Famer is rumored to be on the last bout of his contract.

Later in the first round, the two engaged in  a grappling exchange. Guida appeared to be controlling the action from top half guard, however, Puelles pulled out a slick transition right into a knee bar.

The submission was so tight that it forced the former Strikeforce lightweight champion to tap.

The Peruvian is on a five-fight win streak, and is expected to face a ranked opponent next.

As for Clay Guida, the long time fan favorite has lost 4 out of his last 6 ]and is about to turn 41 later this year. Ahead of the event Guida confirmed he was finishing out his UFC contract with this bout. It’s unclear if the UFC would offer him an extension at this point in time. White wasn’t on hand to be interviewed after the event.
