UFC on ESPN 35: Gabe Green scores an impressive comeback bodyshot TKO

Gabe Green just got the biggest victory of his career.

American martial artist faced the Canadian Yohan Lainesse during the preliminary card of UFC on ESPN 35.

Green was the underdog of the contest. Yohan Lainesse was undefeated in his MMA career and was considered an up-and-coming prospect in the welterweight division.

As soon as the bout started, Lainesse showed that he was a dangerous athlete with dynamite on his hands. Every punch that the Canadian landed would force Green to go on the retreat.

In the second round, it really looked like Lainesse was taking over the contest. At the very beginning of the second round, Lainesse landed a hard overhand right that knocked Green down and appeared to put him out for a second.

However, showing his grit, Green survived the barrage of punches coming his way. Near the end of the bout, Green started having success landing body shots on Lainesse who appeared to be slowing down.

In the last minute of the round, Gabe Green pressured Lainesse against the cage and repeatedly landed body shot after body shot. Eventually, Lainesse wilted under pressure and the referee was forced to stop the action after the Canadian stopped defending himself.

With that victory, Green is now 2-1 in the UFC. On top of that, he becomes the first athlete to defeat Yohan Lainesse in an MMA contest. Green has won 8 out of his last 9 MMA bouts, and is now on a 2-win streak under the UFC banner.
