Georges St-Pierre, the legendary MMA star known for his scholarly interests outside the ring, recently made waves during an appearance on Adin Ross’ stream when he corrected ChatGPT on a question about prehistoric creatures.
The moment highlighted both GSP’s deep knowledge of paleontology and the limitations of even the most advanced AI systems.
During the stream, a question was posed to ChatGPT about which animal in history possessed the strongest bite force. The AI confidently responded with the Tyrannosaurus Rex. GSP wasn’t having it.
“That’s not right?” Ross questioned.
“No, it’s not right,” GSP replied.
The Canadian star then revealed the correct answer: the Megalodon, a prehistoric mega shark that roamed the oceans millions of years ago. ChatGPT quickly acknowledged its error, admitting, “Hi, you got me there. Yeah, the Megalodon is definitely another top contender.”
Ross seemed genuinely impressed: “Damn, you proved ChatGPT wrong. I’ve never seen that before.”
GSP explained his expertise matter-of-factly: “I know a big deal about paleontology, that’s why.”
The exchange served as a teaching moment about the reliability of AI technology. “But the thing is ChatGPT can give you the wrong answer sometimes,” GSP noted.
This isn’t just casual trivia for the former welterweight and middleweight champion. GSP has long been open about his passion for paleontology and prehistoric life, describing himself as a self-confessed nerd who spends considerable time researching ancient creatures.
His fascination extends beyond mere hobby—he previously hosted a television special called The Boneyard, where he explored prehistoric apex predators and even participated in fossil digs in South Dakota.
