Former UFC champion and Hall of Famer Pat Miletich has begun serving a 30-day jail sentence in Iowa following a legal case that concluded earlier this year.
Miletich, 59, was booked into Scott County jail on Monday morning at 9:57 a.m. local time, according to online jail records. The incarceration stems from a September 2023 incident where law enforcement found Miletich unresponsive behind the wheel at a gas station with his vehicle still in drive.
On April 25, Miletich pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated (third offense). As part of his sentencing, he received the mandatory minimum 30-day jail term along with two years of probation. The court also required Miletich to complete an educational course related to the offense.
This isn’t the only legal matter the mixed martial arts pioneer is currently facing. Court records show Miletich was charged with a misdemeanor for driving while his license was denied or revoked following an alleged incident on March 6, 2025. He entered a not guilty plea on April 16, and those legal proceedings remain ongoing.
Miletich made his mark in combat sports history as the UFC’s first welterweight champion and went on to train numerous world champions at his Miletich Fighting Systems gym in Bettendorf, Iowa. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2014, cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s influential early figures.
The former champion has also worked as a commentator and broadcaster for various combat sports promotions throughout his post-fighting career.
