UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad didn’t hold back in his criticism of Sean Strickland following the latter’s defeat at UFC 312, unleashing a series of pointed comments about the former middleweight champion’s performance and character.
Muhammad took to social media to share his thoughts on Strickland‘s loss to Dricus Du Plessis, bringing their ongoing feud to the forefront once again.
“What did we learn yesterday? We learnt, Bully’s always right. I’ve been saying it forever, Sean sucks. He’s trash. Talks a big game but he never walks,”
Muhammad stated.
The animosity between the two stems from their differing views on social issues, particularly regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As a Palestinian-American, Muhammad has been vocal about the situation in the West Bank, regularly sharing content about the Palestinian people’s circumstances on his social media platforms.
Their relationship deteriorated further when Strickland suggested Palestinians should submit to Israel to end their suffering, a comment that drew Muhammad‘s ire and initiated an ongoing social media exchange between the two athletes.
Following UFC 312, Muhammad seized the opportunity to criticize Strickland‘s performance and character.
“He wants people to say that ‘he’s crazy, he’s nuts’. He’s not. He’s just a racist little clown that’s hiding in the body of a fighter. He’s a coward,”
Muhammad declared.
Prior to UFC 312, Muhammad had already expressed his disagreement with Strickland receiving another title opportunity. He argued that other competitors like Khamzat Chimaev and Nassourdine Imavov were more deserving of a championship bout, stating on social media:
“Crazy that Chimaev finished Whittaker and Imavov finished Izzy, but the guy that teeped costa 150 times is getting the title shot… But we all know he’s good at crying and using his mouth. No diddy, I just heard it from his dad.”
