UFC Champ Alex Pereira in Talks to Play Villain in Acting Debut

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira is poised to make his acting debut in a high-octane action thriller. The Brazilian powerhouse is in negotiations to portray the antagonist in “Onslaught,” an upcoming project from acclaimed director Adam Wingard.

Wingard, known for his work on blockbusters like “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” is returning to his roots with this smaller-scale production. The film, which is being set up at A24, Lyrical Media, and Ryder Picture Company, promises to blend action and horror elements in what insiders describe as a “gonzo” thriller.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, sources reveal that Pereira is in talks to play a character known as “The Butcher.” This role will allow the UFC champion to showcase his formidable physical skills, including his signature moves from the octagon.

Pereira’s potential co-star is the talented Adria Arjona, who is in discussions to play the lead role of a mother forced to rely on her unique abilities to protect her family from a mysterious threat. The story is said to involve a secret military base and an escaped danger, setting the stage for intense confrontations.

The project reunites Wingard with his frequent collaborator Simon Barrett, with whom he created cult favorites like “You’re Next” and “The Guest.” The duo is co-writing the screenplay for “Onslaught,” hinting at a return to the inventive storytelling that marked their earlier collaborations.

This venture into acting represents a new challenge for Pereira, who has already proven himself a formidable competitor in two weight divisions of the UFC. His potential transition to the big screen follows in the footsteps of other MMA stars who have successfully crossed over into Hollywood.

“Onslaught” is being produced by a team including Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Company, alongside A24 and Alexander Black for Lyrical Media. Wingard and his manager Jeremy Platt are also producing under their new banner, Breakaway Civilization.
