UFC, Bellator Veteran Maiquel Falcao Stabbed To Death

Maiquel Falcao tragically passed away late yesterday in Brazil. Former UFC fighter and Bellator tournament winner was reportedly stabbed to death in his hometown in Brazil.

MMA Fighting was first to report the sad news:

Falcao was stabbed multiple times in the stomach and in front of a bar and was taken to a hospital at around 3 a.m. local news outlet Gaucha ZH reported. The police told GZH that the case is currently being investigated.

Galcao had been a professional fighter for 20 years. He had an MMA record consisting of 40 wins and 20 losses with one no contest. His tenure in the UFC was short – he defeated Gerald Harris by decision but was released once the news had come out that he was arrested for assaulting a woman outside a night club.

He would go on to join Bellator two years later. There he won a middleweight grand prix. He would come up short on becoming a champion having lost to Shlemenko for then vacant 185 lbs title. He was subsequently cut by Bellator for assaulting a woman in a gas station and being involved in a street fight.

He had since traveled a lot – and taken his talents as a fighter all across the globe. He competed in notable promotions Polan’s KSW, M-1 Global and Fight Nights Global and has notable wins over Igor Pokrajac, Jesse Taylor and Brett Cooper. He was 40 years old at the time of his passing.

He had last fought at Serbian Battle Championship where he lost to Nemanja Uveric in round 1 via tko.
