UFC announces Daniel Cormier to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame

Former two division champion in the UFC Daniel Cormier is the latest inductee in the UFC Hall of Fame.

Cormier seemed surprised by the announcement and became visibly emotional. He was greeted by his fellow UFC employees who exchanged hugs with emotional Cormier.

He will enter as part of the Class of 2022 in the Modern Wing, which honors legends of the Octagon who turned pro before or after Nov. 17, 2000–the date of the first UFC event under the unified rules of MMA.

In addition to Cormier, his teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov will also be inducted in the Hall of fame in the same class.

The celebration will likely take place this summer.

Prior to transition to MMA, Cormier was a storied wrestler.

Cormier (22-3, 1 NC) had a lengthy career in the UFC marked by two rivalries – with Jon Jones and with Stipe Miocic.

While many criticize Cormier for the way he commentates, he is one of the biggest UFC defenders in all matters and was widely rumored to be Dana White’s successor. While there’s a room for Cormier on the employees list that role is more than likely going to Hunter Campbell.
