UFC 285 Video Highlights: Brunson’s corner throws in the towel

South African native Dricus Du Plessis stunned the world with a thrilling TKO victory against veteran Derek Brunson in the middleweight bout at UFC 285.

This victory puts Du Plessis on the map.

Du Plessis entered with a lot of momentum, having previously won against Darren Till in December. Brunson, on the other hand, was looking to bounce back from a loss against Jared Cannonier. The stage was set for an exciting matchup and the event did not disappoint.

The first round  started with both looking to establish their dominance. Brunson caught Du Plessis’ kick and took him down. Brunson was able to maintain his position on top while Du Plessis struggled to get up. However, Du Plessis was eventually able to slip out of Brunson’s guillotine attempt and landed on top of Brunson.

The second round saw Du Plessis coming out strong and landing several powerful shots that rocked Brunson. Du Plessis took control with a barrage of strikes, and Brunson appeared to be slowing down. Despite Brunson’s attempt to shoot a takedown, Du Plessis was able to avoid it and continued to land several more significant strikes.

Towards the end of the second round, Brunson was visibly exhausted and wobbly, and Du Plessis capitalized on this by landing a flurry of punches that sent Brunson to the canvas. Du Plessis continued to pound on Brunson until the corner threw in the towel. There was a single second remaining on the clock.

Du Plessis’ victory against Brunson was a stunning upset and has established him as a contender in the middleweight division.

He showed his striking prowess and impressive takedown defense. Brunson, on the other hand, will need to regroup after this loss and reassess his game plan. Overall, this was a fantastic middleweight showdown that MMA fans will be talking about for a long time.
