Every major PPV card is accompanied by an equally exciting press conference. A lot of times the war is won before the battle even begins. Despite of not being the main event – majority of spectators had their eyes fixed on Khamzat Chimaev and GIlbert Burns.
Chimaev’s meteoric rise will get the first ‘real’ reality check from Burns – who is ranked at number two in the Welterweight division. In many ways Burns is the only one that threatened Usman during their title clash.
On the other hand Chimaev is young and hungry – and the betting odds are heavily in his favor. In fact – they even moved to be even more in his favor since the opening.
One man who can’t dismiss Chimaev’s talents is Li Jingliang. At the presser Jingliang got up to ask Chimaev a question aided by his translator. Jingliang wanted to know if Chimaev would reveal his gameplan to Burns and straight up asked if Chimaev plans to take down Burns right off the gate.
Chimaev was less decisive in his answer opting to showboat and gloat about overpowering Burns.
UFC 273 happens this weekend, in Florida. The card will be headlined by two title clashes – Petr Yan and Sterling and Volkanovski’ dueling The Korean Zombie.
