The highly anticipated match between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns played out jsut how Chimaev and his sizeable fanbase wanted him to. Chimaev went for a takedown right off the bat. Burns may not have been able to stop a takedown but he definitely scrambled to open guard rather quickly and avoided a back take by Chimaev.
Chimaev was finally getting hit in the octagon. Burns showcased why he’s currently ranked at number 2. Meanwhile Chimaev rocked burns with a good jab.
The second round was tremendously exciting and two sided. Burns perhaps edged out round 2. A left hook from burns rocked Chimaev. Burns even tried to shoot for a takedown.
Chimaev was thoroughly tested in this bout. Burns outstruck him by far in round 2.

This bout was one for the ages, with both of them non stop swinging for three rounds. In the last minute of the bout Anik went on to say: “He’s a contender no matter what happens tonight”
In the end Chimaev won on all 3 judges scorecards.
