TUF Competitor Insists Sleeping Outside Best For Recovery, Explains Naruto tattoo

As the newest season of “The Ultimate Fighter” gears up, one contestant is drawing attention for his unconventional recovery methods and meaningful body art. Robert Valentin, a 29-year-old MIddleweight from Switzerland, claims that sleeping outdoors is the best way to recover from intense training sessions and sports a Naruto-inspired tattoo that holds deep personal significance.

Valentin, a practitioner of Nordic paganism, believes that being close to nature and breathing fresh air enhances his immune system and aids in his overall well-being. “Having fresh air around me when I’m sleeping just makes me sleep a lot deeper,” Valentin said. “You just need to cover yourself well and wear some sweaters, and you’ll be fine.”

While Valentin’s approach to sleeping outdoors may seem unconventional, he firmly believes in the science behind it. “I understand the science behind it, you know, for your immune system. I do get it. I understand it,” he explained. His decision has garnered attention from fellow contestants and fans alike, with many expressing curiosity and admiration for his unique recovery methods.

In addition to his outdoor sleeping habits, Valentin’s tattoo, called Shikifujin, is a seal from the popular anime series Naruto, designed to harness the power of one’s inner demons. For Valentin, the symbolic meaning resonates deeply, reflecting his journey through a dark period in his life.

“There was definitely a time where I dealt with severe depression,” Valentin revealed. “I felt like I would lose my identity. If I couldn’t fight, there was nothing in this world for me. I didn’t have a family to look out for or someone to come back to.” Valentin’s struggles led him to a desperate place, where he contemplated taking his own life. It was during this low point that the concept behind the Shikifujin tattoo struck a chord.

“The demon inside of you becomes your friend and gives you power,” Valentin explained. “In the end, I made it through by myself. I pulled myself up from the bootstraps. I made it because I remembered that tomorrow is a new day because I’m a fighter.”

The tattoo serves as a reminder of Valentin’s resilience and the strength he found within himself to overcome his inner demons. Rather than succumbing to the darkness, he harnessed it, transforming it into a source of power and motivation.

As Valentin steps into the TUF house, he carries the weight of his past struggles and the symbolism of his tattoo with him.

With 16 stars from 14 countries vying for their shot at UFC glory, Valentin’s story stands out. “Robert is definitely the most interesting guy on this season. I f***ing love him. He’s a great dude,” one of his costars remarked.
