On Piers Morgan Uncensored, transgender pickle ball player Sara Weiss defended her right to compete against biological females despite growing concerns about fairness in women’s sports.
The discussion, which included Weiss, trans rights advocate Dr. Helen Weberly, host Tommy Larry, and Morgan himself, touched on recent controversies including Olympic boxer Iman Khalif‘s gold medal and transgender high school athlete AB Hernandez‘s victories in California.
“Women’s rights are my rights,”
insisted Weiss during the exchange. When pressed about the biological advantages that trans women might have over biological females in sports, Weiss maintained,
“My biology is much more female than it is male.”
The debate intensified when Morgan asked why trans athletes couldn’t compete in their own category or against their biological sex. Weiss rejected these suggestions, stating,
“I compete against everyone and I have a blast.”
Dr. Weberly argued that the traditional male-female categorization “doesn’t work” and suggested that puberty blockers for young transgender individuals could level the playing field by preventing the development of male muscle mass.
This suggestion drew sharp criticism from Larry, who called it “child abuse” and accused transgender activists of narcissism.
“It’s a group of people that have decided that they are special cases, that they are sacred cows, that they get to do whatever the h-ll they want,”
Larry said.
Morgan repeatedly pressed the issue of fairness, asking both Weiss and Dr. Weberly if they would support NBA star LeBron James competing in women’s basketball if he identified as a woman. Dr. Weberly responded that if the rules allowed it and James “properly identifies as a woman,” then yes, he should be allowed to compete.
While Morgan and Larry argued that biological males have inherent advantages that make competition unfair, Weiss and Dr. Weberly maintained that inclusion should be the priority.
