On Saturday, April 22, 2023, the UFC Vegas 71 co-main event was rescheduled to serve as the main event the following week.
As a result, the middleweight bout between Brad Tavares and Bruno Silva was upgraded to the co-headlining slot.
Tavares and Silva wasted no time in exchanging punches from the opening bell. The back and forth continued throughout the first round, with Tavares landing a kick to the body.
Tavares briefly had Silva in trouble, but Silva managed to recover. Towards the end of the round, Silva landed a check hook that hurt Tavares, and he followed up with a big knee that rocked him even more. A right hand then put Tavares down, and Silva finished him off with a single strike, prompting the referee to stop the action.
Tavares protested the stoppage, but it was clear that he was in trouble and unable to defend himself. With the victory, Silva snapped a losing streak, while Tavares suffered his second consecutive loss.
