Tai Emery endured significant facial swelling in her unsuccessful bid to capture Britain Hart’s strawweight title at BKFC 71 on Friday night.
The championship clash showcased Emery’s aggressive approach from the opening bell as she came off the scratch line throwing combinations and putting immediate pressure on the champion. Her early success included landing several solid left hands that likely earned her the first round as Hart found herself retreating.
“Jab, jab to the body from Emery,” noted commentators as the challenger demonstrated her technical abilities early on. “The sport fighters do literally everything well and they’re doing everything well in this fight. So fast, so accurate.”
Emery maintained her forward pressure in the second round, though Hart adjusted her strategy and began standing her ground more effectively, landing solid combinations including a well-timed one-two followed by a stiff left just before the round concluded.
The third round saw both competitors exchange blows in competitive action, with neither willing to concede ground. By the fourth round, the physical toll became visibly apparent as both fighters displayed facial damage, including nasty cuts over their left eyes.

The bout went the distance, with Hart ultimately retaining her title via unanimous decision with scores of 48-47, 50-45, and 48-47.
The victory marked Hart’s sixth consecutive win in BKFC, improving her promotional record to an impressive 10-3.
Emery’s post-fight appearance revealed the intensity of the bare-knuckle battle, with substantial swelling transforming her facial features. Despite the setback, her performance demonstrated the grit and determination that has made her a fan favorite in the organization.
