Actor Steven Seagal was spotted among distinguished guests at today’s military parade in Moscow commemorating Victory Day over Fascism. Television viewers caught glimpses of the action star watching vintage World War II tanks roll through Red Square during the live broadcast.
Seagal’s presence at the high-profile event comes as no surprise given his long-standing relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The martial arts expert has been a Russian citizen since 2016 and currently serves as a special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry for humanitarian relations between Russia and the United States.
The 72-year-old actor has aligned himself with pro-Kremlin political forces in recent years and has never shied away from expressing his admiration for Putin, once declaring him “one of the greatest leaders in the world, if not the best, alive today.”
His loyalty to the Russian leadership was recognized in 2023 when Putin awarded him the Order of Friendship, one of Russia’s highest honors for foreign citizens. Seagal has consistently supported Russia’s military actions in Ukraine and previously advocated for the annexation of Crimea. In 2022, he visited Olenivka where Ukrainian prisoners were being held in a Russian-controlled camp.
This year’s Victory Day military parade marks the 80th anniversary of Russia’s triumph over Nazi Germany in World War II. The event featured thousands of Russian troops marching in formation and showcased the country’s latest military hardware, including advanced air defense systems and missile launchers. More than 20 international leaders attended the commemoration according to reports from Telegraph.
