Shane Gillis made it clear during a podcast conversation that he skipped voting entirely in the last election, despite the perception that he’s a die-hard Trump supporter. When the topic came up among his crew, discussing the fact that he’d given everyone the day off and sent them to Pennsylvania to cast votes, Gillis admitted the truth about his own ballot.
“You could have voted for me,” he said, before revealing, “I didn’t vote. I could have given someone my vote.”
Despite not casting a vote, Gillis was quick to clarify where he actually stands.
“I am undeniably a Trump enjoyer, there’s no denying that,” he said. “I’ll let the troops handle that. I’ll let the Patriots take care of that.”
The admission led to some ribbing from the group, who accused him of “stolen valor” when it comes to his Trump fandom. Stavros Halkias joked about the disconnect between wearing a “MAGA hat” and never having voted for the man himself, asking, “Where did you serve, where were you in January 6th?”
Gillis’s deadpan response placed him somewhere decidedly less dramatic: “I’m in line at Sbarro in the mall.”
Gillis then joked that if anyone asked him about voting for Trump, he’d reply, “I didn’t, but I thought he was funny as well.”
The conversation then shifted into a bit about Trump memorabilia, with someone asking if Gillis had bought official merchandise like a commemorative coin or silver dollar. He hadn’t purchased anything himself, but noted he’d been gifted plenty.
“People give me stuff. I definitely have a Donald Trump $11,000 bill that’s gold and it has Donald Trump on it. I’ve got two of those, two separate people have given me.”
He speculated on why so many people seem eager to hand him Trump-branded gold items, joking that older relatives view them as long-term investments.
