UFC middleweight contender Sean Strickland recently talked about the Paramount+ Halo adaptation during a recent media appearance in Houston. During the interview, he mentioned that he wasn’t pleased with what the streaming service did to the beloved gaming franchise.
While discussing his experience with Paramount and the UFC’s broadcasting partnership, Strickland made his feelings clear about the sci-fi series.
“Paramount’s cool. I mean they f**king ruined Halo but other than that, you know, they made it g*y. But other than f**king ruining like a childhood memory and legend to me, I mean Paramount’s cool,” Strickland stated, expressing disappointment with how the adaptation handled the iconic video game property that meant so much to him growing up.
During the interview, Strickland was also asked about the reported coming-out-of-retirement bout between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.
Strickland questioned the appeal of the matchup and speculated whether presentation could make it more marketable.
“Oh, f*** me, dude. Ronda and Gina. Who ever thought about that, man?” Strickland said. “Are they going to be half n*ked? I guess they will be half n*ked. Might maybe make it a little better.”
He did acknowledge Rousey’s credentials, saying, “Let’s be honest. Ronda Rousey can fi ght. That b**** can fig ht. She’s an Olympian… ”
When it came to Carano, however, Strickland was far more dismissive. “Gina always sucked. I like Gina. She’s like super conservative. She was hot, you know?” he said.
Strickland then went on to say explicit stuff about Carano: “I was like a kid when she competed. I may have j*rked off to her once or twice back in the day… I was like what, 12? I was j*rking off when I was 12.”
Strickland then questioned the commercial appeal of the matchup altogether. “Do you guys care about Gina and Ronda? No. Maybe if you put some oil on it, do some dollar bills, people might give a f***, but really not many people give a f*** about women’s MMA in general,” he said.
Comparing it to the WNBA, he added, “No one gives a f*** about women’s sports. Who cares? You’re watching two chicks. You take the weakest, softest guy here and you guys would beat up Amanda Nunes.”
