Russian ‘Popeye’ denies rumors of arm amputation

Kirill Tereshin, the Russian bodybuilder known as “Popeye” for his synthetically enhanced biceps, has taken to social media to dispel rumors that his arms will be amputated due to medical complications. In a video message posted to his channels, Tereshin directly addressed what he called unreliable news circulating about his health condition.

“Now the second wave has started again and they started posting news about me, that my tests are cr-ppy, not suitable for surgery, and they will amputate his arms.”

He followed up with another clarification.

“Guys, don’t trust the news and publications.”

The bodybuilder explained that misleading reports originated from test results he shared on his Telegram channel which were taken out of context by other media outlets seeking attention. He confirmed that while some of his blood test results appeared problematic comprehensive testing showed no cause for concern.

“Everything is fine with me, the tests are really, well, not exactly terrible, but they are good enough for surgery.”

He detailed that one particular test measuring blood clotting time showed unusual results but a more expensive comprehensive blood analysis costing 6,000 rubles revealed no problems. Tereshin attributed the discrepancies to the timing of his tests noting he had them done at 2:00 PM rather than the recommended morning timeframe before 9:00 AM.

The Russian internet personality is scheduled to undergo a skin graft procedure this week, transplanting skin from one arm to another to address ongoing complications from his controversial cosmetic enhancement.

“This week everything will happen. Skin graft from this arm to this one.”

Tereshin used the opportunity to criticize those who believe sensational online content without verification.

“Before you listen to the Internet or someone, first find out whether it’s true or not, and then draw conclusions.”

He explained that such false reports are created specifically to drive traffic to channels and generate advertising revenue.

The bodybuilder, who gained international notoriety for injecting synthol into his arms to create an exaggerated muscular appearance, has faced numerous health complications requiring multiple surgeries. Despite the ongoing medical challenges Tereshin maintains he is in good condition and promises to keep his followers updated with truthful information about his recovery.
