Raul Rosas Jr. hype train derailed at UFC 287

Christian Rodriguez proved too much for Raul Rosas Jr. as he suffered his first career loss at UFC 287. Rodriguez showed excellent takedown defense and composure, frustrating Rosas Jr.’s takedown attempts in the first round.

Although Rosas Jr. got a takedown, he couldn’t capitalize on it. He also managed to get on Rodriguez’s back, but the latter was successful in defending the submission attempts.

The judges scored the action 29-28 unanimously in favor of Rodriguez, who extended his record to 9-1.

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman commented that it would serve as a good ego check for Rosas Jr., while Henry Cejudo called Rosas Jr. a one-trick pony. Sean Strickland also took a shot at Rosas Jr., saying that he signed a kid to face men.
