PFL: Akhmedov chokes out Teodoras

Former UFC contender Omari Akhmedov defeated Teodoras Aukstuolis while heavily bleeding from his nose. Akhmedov rendered Aukstuolis fully unconscious with a tight arm triangle choke.

Professional Fighters League (PFL) just had their fourth event for the 2022 season, PFL 4. The event took place at the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on June 17. The event was headlined by UFC veteran Clay Collard and Alexander Martinez in a light heavyweight bout.

One bout that gained fans’ attention was between Omari Akhmed and Teodoras Aukstuolis. The pair clashed in a light heavyweight bout for the preliminary main event.

Omari Akhmedov slightly dominated the fight as soon as it started. ‘Wolverine’ can be seen having a much cleaner boxing technique compared to Aukstuolis. He successfully took down the Lithuanian in the first round.

Teodoras Aukstuolis got fired up in the second round and started to play aggressively. He connected a left jab while Akhmedov was going forward for an attack. The jab sent Akhmedov to the canvas and suffered a pretty gruesome nose injury.

Aukstuolis followed up by going to the ground with Akhmedov. Unfortunately, the former Dagestan Combat Sambo champion easily reversed position and got on top. Akhmedov then locked an arm triangle choke. Surprisingly, Aukstuolis didn’t tap and the ref halted the fight when he saw Aukstuolis fainted. When Akhmedov released the choke, Aukstuolis could be seen helplessly twitching.

With this victory, Omari Akhmedov now has 11 points, leading the standings with Australian athlete Rob Wilkinson. Akhmedov marked his third PFL bout since joining the promotion in October of last year. The 34-year-old lost his first bout against Jordan Young after getting knocked out in the first round.

Omari Akhmedov was a UFC athlete from 2013 to 2021. He competed in the welterweight and middleweight divisions and fought the likes of Gunnar Nelson, Marvin Vettori, and Chris Weidman. So far, Akhmedov has a total score consisting of 23 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw.
