Francis Ngannou is a highly coveted free agent in combat sports, currently in talks with PFL and ONE FC for his MMA career.
Ngannou is also in advanced discussions with Deontay Wilder for a potential boxing match in Africa.
Ngannou is reportedly eyeing a $30 million payday for his boxing match, which is unheard of in MMA.
While Ngannou has also held talks with Anthony Joshua, he is reportedly deeper in conversations with American star Wilder.
The Ngannou-Wilder bout could take place in October 2024, potentially on the 50th anniversary of Muhammad Ali’s Rumble in The Jungle.
If the card happens, it could help to raise the profile of boxing in Africa and inspire a new generation of boxers.
Wilder has offered a two-bout deal to Ngannou to face him in both the ring and the cage, but Ngannou has expressed a preference to focus solely on boxing.
British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has now revealed that his next opponent will be fellow former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. The much-anticipated bout is set to take place in December and is expected to be a thrilling bout between two heavyweight powerhouses.
Joshua last competed in a match earlier this month when he beat Jermaine Franklin through a decision after 12 rounds. Having lost back-to-back matches with Oleksandr Usyk, fans expected more from the former world champion.
After the match, Joshua called out Tyson Fury. However, promoter Eddie Hearn stated that his next bout would be against Dillian Whyte. Moreover, the match wouldn’t even be the summer date that AJ fans had hoped for.
The 2012 Olympic gold medalist recently revealed to his fans that he would be facing the Wilder next. It now seems that we may be halfway to that Supercard.
A fan questioned him, “You gonna beat Wilder?”
The British heavyweight then replied, “That’s what’s happening. You know what’s going on.”
As the fan inquires about the news, the 33-year-old grinned and nodded before responding: “It’s public news, bruv, we’re getting it down, in December.”
The fan then responds: “You better get that W.”
AJ then replies: “God willing” as he unquestionably needs the next win to have any chance of becoming the three time the world championship.
Wilder won the WBC version of the world title in 2015, while Joshua won his IBF belt in 2016. The two men were both world champions at the same time for over three years until Anthony Joshua lost to Andy Ruiz in 2019. Although he won the title back a few months later, Wilder on the other hand lost his belt in 2020 to Fury.
The December showdown between Joshua and Wilder promises to be a thrilling match between two of the world’s top heavyweight boxers. Fans are eagerly anticipating the outcome of this matchup.
