MMA veteran/Pro Wrestler Katsuya Kitamura dead at 36

Japanese MMA star Karsuya Kitamura has tragically passed away.

The cause of death of the 36 year old fan favorite is not yet known.

According to Tokyo Sports, Kitamura allegedly felt unwell on Tuesday and called an ambulance to take him to hospital.

A similar report says his condition changed ‘dramatically’ after and he soon passed away.

He was also active in Pro Wrestling and body building. His nickname was The Wrestling Monster due to his exceptionally large frame. He was 6ft tall weighing in at 265lbs.

He made his Pro Wrestling debut back in 2017 and won 3 consecutive All Japan Championships in the Greco Roman 96kg wrestling class.

Kitamura’s amateur wrestling career was sidelined when he tested positive for PEDs and received a 2 year ban.

After the ban he knew he’s unlikely to get called to represent Japan on the international level and began bodybuilding.

He made his MMA debut last November after joining Rizin. He lost to Bobby Ologun via rear naked choke in second round.

He was also active on youtube with many fans mourning his sudden passing.
