MMA veteran accused of stabbing girlfriend and concealing body

According to the story from WKRN, Irene Torres was reportedly fatally stabbed by Dwayne Herrelle Jr. on January 28 when she arrived home late from work.

Both Herrelle and Torres worked at the same establishment. Security video shown during the MMA vet’s February 15 hearing, Herrelle can be seen repeatedly stabbing Torres.

Derry Baltimore is a detective with the Metro Nashville Police Department. He was there when the horrifying surveillance tape was shown in court and also attended Toress’ autopsy.

Baltimore told WKRN: “They got into an argument and he begins stabbing her and after stabbing her he put her in the trunk of his car. I was told while I was standing there with the doctor that she was stabbed in excess of 17 times.”

When Torres’ parents watched the surveillance tape from their house, they called the police. But when the father of the 24-year-old questioned Herrelle, the former MMA fighter claimed Torres was sleeping at a hotel.

The victim’s handbag and trousers were discovered in a dumpster behind a nearby grocery shop. When Herelle allegedly confessed his crimes to Torres’ father, the police proceeded to investigate Herelle’s apartment.

Baltimore said: “We went to the closet area, and I could see the victim inside of a clear tote, like she was wrapped in some type of comforter.”

Herrelle competed for the Ohio-based Justified Defiance FS. He made his amateur MMA debut in 2016 and went 5-0. The 28-year-old lost his professional debut match against Irvin Jones in 2017, Kegan Agnew submitted him in the first round of a match in 2018 and he didn’t compete in MMA again
