A prominent KSW athlete has shared his unexpected passion for collecting fine porcelain teacups. Far from the intense world of combat sports, this martial artist finds solace in the delicate artistry of premium European porcelain.
Łukasz Charzewski is apparently big into collecting porcelain. He has a record consisting of 13 wins 2 losses and 1 no contest.
“This is just a handful of what I own,” the athlete shares while proudly displaying his collection, which includes pieces from the prestigious Rosenthal manufactory, one of Europe’s finest producers. “Here I have a beautiful little mocca cup in green,” he explains, showing off a Tiefenfurt piece with visible enthusiasm.
The origins of this unique hobby can be traced back to his family roots. “My parents instilled this love for porcelain in me. At first, I looked at it with a raised eyebrow because they collected just a bit of porcelain. Then I fell in love with it,” he reveals.
What makes this passion particularly intriguing is the stark contrast it presents to his professional life. “As we know, porcelain is somewhat fragile, and our sport is very hard, so for me, this is a perfect escape from thoughts and training,” he explains. “I come back after training and look at these cups.”
His appreciation for these delicate pieces runs so deep that he doesn’t even use them for their intended purpose. “Of course, I don’t drink coffee from them because I cherish them too much. I care too much about the craftsmanship of these cups,” he admits, before adding with a smile, “I love it. Probably more than MMA.”
This unexpected hobby showcases how athletes can find balance through interests that completely diverge from their professional pursuits, proving that there’s more to martial artists than meets the eye.
Łukasz Charzewski is booked to face Leo Brichta at KSW 103.
