Mixed martial artist dies of an apparent case of food poisoning

Alexandar Pisarev reportedly passed away unexpectedly this month. He trained with the Tomahawk squad in Moscow.

The exact cause of his death is currently unclear. However, food poisoning has been suggested as a possibility.

There are conflicting accounts as to how he passed away. While Russian news site Baza said that Pisarev’s premature death was caused by an over dose another outlet said that the 33-year-old passed away in his sleep only a few hours after devouring a watermelon.

According to reports, Pisarev and his wife both complained of abdominal discomfort immediately after eating the fruit and were both transported to the hospital.

Pisarev’s father Igor Vladimirovich shared a flat with him and his wife. He to SHOT that he discovered Pisarev unconscious after coming home after walking their dog.

“I returned from a walk with the dog at about four o’clock and called my son to dinner. In response, silence. I went into the room – Alexander and his wife were sleeping. I came closer – and it turned out that my son was no longer breathing. His wife was also taken away in an ambulance.”

Additionally, Pisarev’s father stated that their son had no recognized medical issues.

CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says that there are more than 250 foodborne infections, which cause 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 fatalities in the United States each year.

According to the World Health Organization, the figures are far higher on a worldwide basis, with 420,000 fatalities caused by food poisoning per year.

Pisarev participated in mixed martial arts under many different sponsorships during his career, including Absolute Championship Berkut and Fight Nights Global.

In his most recent outing, he fought on the Russian Cagefighting Championship’s “Road To PFL” card. This was part of the PFL’s International Qualifier Series. In the competition, Maksim Usoyan defeated Pisarev by submission in 67 seconds.

Before that, Pisarev had won three straight matches. This included a knockout victory over Lui Xin Sheng and an 18-second submission victory over Miki Dzeltov.

Pisarev has a 3-2 overall record in mixed martial arts. He has won titles in grappling and hand-to-hand combat in Moscow. He also advanced to the finals of the MMA European Championships.
