Meghan Markle to launch Spotify podcast in spite of Joe Rogan threat

Everyone’s favorite former royals contributed to the social discourse when Joe Rogan was facing backlash for hosting controversial medical experts. While musicians like Neil Young and others acted affirmatively, the Sussexes had only expressed their disdain for Spotify platforming Rogan without bailing out on their multimillion deal with the platform.

Rogan might be out of the woods with Spotify, thanks to the sheer amount of subscribers he brings in but the ultimatums that once hung over his head are still very much in play.

Meghan Markle is set to launch her podcast soon – thus far the royals released a single Christmas special and no other content on the platform.

According to sources, Markle has opted to carry on with the deal and is still having “discussions” with Spotify about the platform’s contribution to the epidemic of misinformation.

A spokesperson from Markle’s Archwell Audio said, “We are encouraged by ongoing conversations we’ve had with Spotify on this shared goal and have been working closely with their team—as well as their senior leadership—towards policies, practices, and strategies meant to raise creator awareness, minimize the spread of misinformation, and support transparency.”

Podcast is slated to air this summer.
