Jorge Masvidal recently appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and revealed some unexpected details about his former best friend-turned-nemesis, Colby Covington.
Ahead of his upcoming UFC 287 bout against Gilbert Burns, Masvidal revealed why Colby asked to stay with him during his struggling days.
Masvidal claims that Colby had nowhere to live after his girlfriend kicked him out for allegedly giving her herpes. Although there is no information about the person Masvidal is referring to, it is not the first time someone has made allegations against Covington.
Masvidal added, “He broke his hand. His girlfriend had f**king kicked him out of the place because he had given her f**king herpes and s**t. I’m dead**s serious. So he had nowhere to f**king live.”
UFC women’s flyweight Polyana Viana previously made some interesting comments about her alleged encounters with Covington. The Chaos revealed that they had hooked up before parting ways, but Viana denied the claims in the beginning.
However, in a tweet, she revealed the NSFW reason behind their breakup.
Interestingly, Colby never made any comments on Viana after that, but it prompted Paulo Costa to have some fun at the former interim UFC welterweight champion’s expense.
At present, there is no word on whether Covington is in a relationship or not. However, his focus is on the title, as Dana White revealed that Leon Edwards will defend his title against Colby later in 2023.
Masvidal and Covington’s feud started long before their bout at UFC 272 main event in March 2022.
Although fans expected a close call due to their bad blood, Covington beat Masvidal handily.
Masvidal was not pleased with the way the bout ended and allegedly organized a stick up in front of a Miami steakhouse and broke Covington’s teeth.
Masvidal was arrested afterward, but there is a theory that Covington dropped the charges against him to secure a title shot after Leon Edwards’ win over Kamaru Usman at UFC 286. This seems wildly unlikely considering UFC isn’t too fond of Covington.
Masvidal is set to face Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, but it doesn’t look like he and Covington have sorted out their problems just yet. Despite not being on the same level as Jon Jones or Conor McGregor, Masvidal is undoubtedly a huge draw for the company.
