Leon Edwards sent Ian Garry to the dentist with the same kick he landed on Kamaru Usman

Leon Edwards’ career reached new heights with his sensational knockout win against Usman at UFC 278. The English mixed martial artist is currently enjoying his reign as the brand-new UFC welterweight champion.

Ian Garry recently revealed how Leon Edwards delivered an identical kick to his own face and prompted him to see the dentist.

The aftermath of the kick and the accompanying anguish was clearly seen in a video that Garry posted on his Instagram account.

Garry’s wife Layla Anna-Lee joined him at the dentist. She was shown in the video making jokes and humorous inquiries regarding the event.

Garry answered: “We went to the hospital this morning because for the last two days I’ve been in excruciating pain. S**t’s f**king shooting up through my face from my teeth.”

He went on to say: “Anyone watch the Leon Edwards and Usman fight..anyone know how that went? One of the best head kicks in the UFC. I might have felt what that kick felt like on Wednesday morning. So yeah, Leon I’m blaming you for my tooth f**king pain.”

On the list of past UFC champions from the UK, Leon Edwards joined former middleweight champion, Michael Bisping. The fact that Bisping is the first Brit to win the UFC championship is acknowledged by Edwards, but he made a crucial difference.

Edwards was the very first opponent Islam Makhachev sparred at the American Kickboxing Academy and he too was warned about the kick ahead of the roll. Makhachev didn’t share much about how it went besides saying it was a good training round.

Edwards hopes that his experience will motivate a new generation of English athletes who are dominating the UFC.

In a recent interview with Express Sport, Edwards called out featherweight contender Arnold Allen as the next UK contender in line to win the coveted UFC gold.

He said: “His path is longer, similar to mine because we’re not loud characters, we do our work silently and get it done. So, I believe Arnold [Allen] , I see him in the gym, I see how hard he works. I see how good he is. I think Arnold will be the next one.”

At UFC Vegas 63, Allen last competed in the octagon against Calvin Kattar. He defeated Kattar by a technical knockout after Kattar’s knee fell apart. He extended his winning run to 12-0 with this.
