Khamzat Chimaev: Nate Diaz clash – just for fun

Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz are locking horns at UFC 279 event on September 10, 2022.

Fans are still curious about the event and questioned UFC’s decision to announce this main event in the first place.

UFC legend Nate Diaz has only one left on his current contract, and UFC used that opportunity to boost rising star Khamzat Chimaev.

Nate Diaz wanted to face anyone in order to become a free agent. He wanted someone who could get him out of his UFC contract.

But, his opponent Khamzat Chimaev had a different plan while accepting the bout. H

e said,
“Actually, I don’t need to fight that guy. I fight the guy just for fun. I was a kid when he was fighting. I could wait for the title … I took that fight, that guy is not top, but he’s famous. Everyone loves him, everyone talk about this gangster. I eat gangsters for the breakfast. I’m gonna f**k that guy (up).”

Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chimaev will headline UFC 279 at T-Mobile Arena In Las Vegas, Nevada.

Diaz is an underdog in the match considering the fact that Khamzat is undefeated in his MMA career. But Edward’s knockout victory over Kamaru Usman proved that nothing is predictable in the Octagon.

Khamzat might get a title shot if he wins this one. Though that’s likely going to be delayed after Edwards and Usman rematch.

Daniel Cormier believes that Khamzat might have to wait because Usman and Edwards will get a trilogy.

He stated,
“I think last weekend he did not understand that he was the biggest loser in the Usman versus Leon situation because he was in line. All he had to do was get past Diaz. All he had to do, get past Diaz, you fight for the championship, but with Leon Edwards winning now, now we got a trilogy, and rightfully so.”
