Khabib on Why He Attacked Dillon Danis: McGregor’s Other Cornermen Were Old

For many UFC fans one of the moments nobody will ever forget is the fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor. The lead up to the fight was extremely emotionally charged with many of the words spoken crossing the lines of human decency.

On that night in October of 2018 Nurmagomedov cranked McGregor into a submission – and once McGregor tapped the emotions surrounding the fight didn’t dissipate. This prompted Nurmagomedov to jump into the audience and start a fight with the controversial Bellator fighter Dillon Danis.

But many assumed Danis had been saying something racist to get such an extreme reaction from Nurmagomedov. He had since denied these claims.

Now Nurmagomedov is explaining just why he charged at Danis.

“I remember like someone from is his corner say something. Like, and it was like crazy emotional moment for me. I’m like okay, well this part did not finish.”

And as for why exactly he jumped Danis – it’s simple. He was neither old nor silent when it came to Nurmagomedov.

“How am I gonna fight with old guys they are like – old people you know like wrestling coach
and head coach like… They, they they don’t talk bad about me – nothing. This guy told – this guy was talking bad about me. ”
