Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has delivered strong criticism toward boxing legend Floyd Mayweather over his public stance regarding Israel, questioning the boxer’s motivations and integrity.
The undefeated Dagestani expressed his bewilderment at Mayweather’s position in a recent statement. He said that he witnessed videos of the American boxer and was troubled by what he observed.

“I’m talking about Mayweather, and Mayweather, it’s like boxes, and the way how he was talking about, like yesterday I saw his videos, and the way how he supported this country, I don’t understand,” Nurmagomedov stated.
The Russian didn’t hold back in suggesting that financial incentives may be driving Mayweather’s public declarations. Nurmagomedov implied, “Yes, and I knew they paid me money, if I was a business class, they would say, oh, I support your country. This is money, but I will never do this.”
Drawing a comparison between his own approach and Mayweather’s, Nurmagomedov emphasized his commitment to principles over profit. The Dagestani champion made it clear that his career has been guided by different values, explaining, “because I was fighting for legacy, and when it’s true come, you have to support the true.”
Nurmagomedov’s comments highlight a fundamental philosophical divide between the two combat sports icons. While Mayweather has built a career around financial success and business acumen, often promoting his wealth and business ventures, Nurmagomedov has consistently positioned himself as someone driven by honor and moral conviction rather than monetary gain.
The former UFC champion concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of authenticity and genuine support, stating, “This camera, this camera is me and legacy. If you want to support me, you have to support me.”
Nurmagomedov’s criticism reflects his belief that public figures should base their positions on conviction rather than compensation.
