Khabib makes a pledge – Eagle FC will never be sponsored by betting sites

Khabib Nurmagomedov isn’t shying away from the tenants of his faith despite his extended stay in the US. Nurmagomedov became a meme thanks to his unrelenting will and motivation to focus on task at hand.

Nurmagomedov was taking questions during a recent Eagle FC event and made an interesting pledge. Eagle FC will never be sponsored by betting sites.

This is especially interesting considering how heavily UFC is promoting Stake, Draft Kings and other.

“Well, they pay big money. There are promotions that take their money, the bookmakers become their main sponsor, and they don’t need any more. We’re not moving in that direction. We pay attention to the type of product we give to our audience. “

This isn’t the first time Nurmagomedov is moving away from the norm – he’s also famously against the presence of ring girls. While his attitude toward women leaves much to be desired there’s the question of how disrespectful it is for athletes to have basically eye candy be paid better than them – especially considering the toll and training required to even get to the UFC let alone become a prominent athlete. By comparison, a ring girl is estimated to make at least $5000 for a night’s work whereas some athletes walk away with brain damage and just $12,000 for their life compromising effort.

Nurmagomedov was also on hand to answer some questions about Kamaru Usman’s knock out.

Khabib told the press,

“I believe he can beat Leon Edwards, but after such a knockout a lot of people don’t recover. It will be interesting to see, they are one and one now,” he told reporters.

Usman and Nurmagomedov share a manager in Ali Abdelaziz and ahead of the event Abdelaziz even went so far as to praise Usman as greatest of all time. Nice to see that Nurmagomedov didn’t take it hard.

“You can say Khabib a little bit retired early, you can say Henry retired a little bit early, right?” Abdelaziz explained.

“Right now, it’s tough man. I love all of them. Everybody knows how close I am to Khabib and how I love them.”

“I love Kamaru too but right now, the way Kamaru is doing it, I don’t think anybody’s doing it the way Kamaru is doing it and he’s willing to go up to light heavyweight and do a two-division champion and skip a weight division.”
