Katie Taylor has one more MMA name in mind for boxing besides Holly Holm

Katie Taylor has three potential opponents in mind for the future.

Last month, Taylor won a thrilling fight against Amanda Serrano to maintain her undisputed lightweight championship. Katie revealed that she will conduct negotiations about a second meeting. However, she would like to do it in her native country of Ireland, at Croke Park.

Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Matchroom Boxing, has disclosed that he has been approached by the government to host a homecoming bout. “There are three fights for Katie Taylor next,” Hearn said.

“There is Cris Cyborg, there’s Holly Holm or there’s Amanda Serrano. We have had approaches from (the) government level in Ireland, they want to do Croke Park, and it would be an incredible moment for Katie Taylor.”

“Those three names would be fine to do that. For me, I would like the Amanda Serrano rematch.”

“It’s such a great fight, and we are talking to Jake Paul and Nakisa [Bidarian] about that rematch. If we can agree on terms, we’d love to go straight into the rematch and do it again and create an event that will be remembered even beyond Madison Square Garden.”

The fight between Taylor and Serrano was seen by 1.5 million people, making it one of the most-watched events in history. Holm is a strong contender to meet Taylor next. However, it will happen only if the star is free to negotiate a match outside of the UFC.

This is why the Cris Cyborg match makes more sense. For one, Bellator isn’t exclusive. For another Cyborg is about to become a free agent – so there’s definitely room to negotiate. It’s worth mentioning that both Cyborg and Holm peaked years ago. Either way it’s an interesting negotiating chip to have if nothing else.

After a two-year layoff, she returned to the Octagon last weekend and was defeated by Ketlen Viera. However, after her contentious defeat, she expressed interest in returning to boxing. Cyborg, meanwhile, has a five-fight winning streak after leaving the UFC and joining the MMA.
