Junior dos Santos dislocates Shoulder in Eagle FC 47 main event

Junior dos Santos is one of the highest profile additions to Eagle FC. Prior to last night’s event, Eagle FC owner Khabib Nurmagomedov announced he would be looking to book former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos against Fedor Emelianenko.

dos Santos went up against Yorgan De Castro.

The Brazilian looked solid until the third round. In the third round dos Santos suffered a shoulder injury and was unable to continue. An anticlimactic ending to a card with plenty of buzz.

There was initially some confusion about the match outcome with the medical team going in the ring to assist Dos Santos – hoping to pop the arm back into place. But the injury was likely not fresh – leading the arm to lock up and be unable to pop back into place.

Following the confusion, De Castro was declared the winner.

The co main event also featured a problematic ending. In another veterans match up, Hector Lombard faced Thiago Silva. Silva illegally kneed Lombard close to 2 minutes into round 2 forcing the cageside physician to call it. Upto that anticlimactic ending, Lombard had the edge, repeatedly pressuring Silva.

The bout was declared a no contest following the illegal move.
