Jose Aldo is the first UFC Hall of Fame inductee in class of 2023

On the UFC 283 broadcast, a touching homage to Jose Aldo was given. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aldo’s home fans watched a video of his career highlights while Aldo sat in the audience.

The color commentators also revealed that Aldo would be admitted into the UFC Hall of Fame during festivities in July. It was the first inductee announcement of the year.

Aldo’s speech at the beginning of the clip discussed the importance of leaving a legacy rather than just winning a title. He stated:

“My dream since the beginning of my career was to leave a legacy. That’s what I have always fought for. I didn’t want to be just a champion. I wanted to leave a legacy.”

Messages from Urijah Faber, Israel Adesanya, Sean O’Malley, Daniel Cormier, Michael Chandler, Aljamain Sterling, and other top Brazilian UFC fighters like Charles Oliveira, Renato Moicano, Rafael Assuncao, and Amanda Ribas were also included in the video.

Jose Aldo recently announced his retirement after losing to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278 in August of last year. He is considered to be one of the finest featherweights.

Jose Aldo made his retirement officially known on September 18, the same day that his wife Vivianne Perreira gave birth to their son. Later, Aldo said that he had a touching talk with Dana White about his retirement.

White responded to Aldo’s text message regarding retiring by assuring him that the UFC and the UFC PI will always be available to him. Aldo shared White’s message with his wife, who was 36 weeks pregnant at the time.

Aldo’s wife became emotional and ended up in the hospital as a result of an increase in blood pressure. Preeclampsia is a potentially fatal pregnancy condition, and it forced Vivianne Perreira to deliver the baby early. Aldo expressed gratitude to White for his unintended assistance on the Trocaço Franca podcast of MMA Fighting:

“Even unintentionally, he’s always helped me in my life. I get emotional talking about it. Not that I owe him my son’s life, but it was after his message that got Vivianne emotional, her blood pressure going up, and we taking her to the hospital. He was born with all odds against him, but thanks to Dana… God always puts good people in our lives to help us.”

Aldo retired earlier last year after a clash with Merab Dvalishvili.

In interview to @flowpdc he confirmed that he is making a boxing debut in February 10th against a Pro Boxer from Argentina. He is looking to face professionals. Not Youtubers and Influencers.

Aldo still has one bout on his UFC contract and as such cannot do MMA. Aldo’s boxing debut will be streamed on UFC’s streaming service in Feburay.
