Jorge Masvidal: Johnny Eblen is the best guy I ever trained with

UFC welterweight star Jorge Masvidal recently shared a story about his toughest training partner, Johnny Eblen. Masvidal believes that Eblen is the best middleweight athlete currently.

Masvidal will be back in the octagon in April and will face Gilbert Burns in UFC 287’s co-main event in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately, Masvidal’s record isn’t in good shape, as he has suffered three consecutive losses in his last outings, including defeats to former champion Kamaru Usman and his teammate Colby Covington in March of last year.

Before his return, Masvidal spoke with UFC color commentator Joe Rogan on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. He praised his teammate at The American Top Team, Johnny Eblen, who he trains with frequently.

Masvidal stated that Eblen is currently the best middleweight in the world, possessing excellent skills in every aspect of the game.

Johnny Eblen is the current Bellator middleweight champion and is undefeated in his career with 13 victories. He won the Bellator middleweight championship last June against Gegard Mousasi and defended it once against Anatoly Tokov in February.

Masvidal has trained with Eblen for years, and they both sharpen each other’s skills. However, Masvidal admits that when Eblen overwhelms him, he knows it’s time to call it a day.

“He’s just a beast and like we’ve been sharpening iron… me and him forever. And those days that he f*cking runs me over, those days that I do very well…”

“That I hold my own and we have great sessions. So the times that I start to just get the worst or end of the sessions, it’s time for me to hang it up”

“. I don’t need to go in a ring to find out once I can’t keep up with a pack any more. I know my time has come and it’s gonna hurt like f*ck because this is all I’ve known.” Masvidal explained.
