UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan has quietly removed his own comedy special from the “wall of fame” at his Austin-based Comedy Mothership club. The decision appears to have come after the satirical YouTube channel ‘The Elephant Graveyard‘ publicly pointed out the questionable placement of Rogan’s work alongside comedy legends.
The situation became known when an investigative reporter visited the Comedy Mothership and discovered that Rogan’s special, which had previously occupied a prominent position on the venue’s wall of comedy “legends,” had been conspicuously removed.
The reporter noted in their account: “I went to find the washroom, and when I got there, to my dismay, I discovered that Joe, the comedy [czar], had actually removed his own special from the comedy wall of fame that he put up there.”
The timing of the removal appears significant, coinciding with increased scrutiny from comedy critics and satirical commentators who have questioned Rogan’s self-proclaimed status as a comedy legend. The Elephant Graveyard channel had previously highlighted what they saw as the audacity of Rogan positioning himself alongside established comedy greats at his own venue.
“Maybe he just got embarrassed after we pointed it out,” the investigator speculated, “but I think it’s the first sign that he knows his scheme is at risk of being exposed and he’s begun to hide his tracks.”
