Joe Rogan recalls how Obama’s taunt inspired Trump to run for president

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), the UFC color commentator Joe Rogan recounted an intriguing tale about how former US President Barack Obama’s jab at Donald Trump may have catalyzed the latter’s decision to run for the highest office in the country.

Rogan, speaking with fellow stand-up comedian Chad Daniels, discussed the current US political landscape and the presidential race between Trump and Joe Biden. During their conversation, Rogan mentioned the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a traditional event where the White House staff, the press, and the President gather, often with comedians invited to perform and roast the attendees.

Rogan then recalled a specific instance when Obama took to the stage and decided to taunt Trump, who at the time had not yet run for president. According to Rogan, Obama said to Trump, “I’m one thing that you’ll never be, and that’s the President of the United States.”

The JRE host then stated that he believes Obama’s roast was a turning point for Donald Trump. Rogan explained, “He was roasting Trump. You could see Trump in his head like ‘Okay, I’m going to run now.’ That might have been the thing that got him to run. That’s how crazy that guy is. That one moment where Obama was talking shit to him, might be the reason he was like ‘I’ll fucking show you’. You do not want that fucking guy on your bad side!”

Rogan’s recollection provides an intriguing perspective on the factors that may have inspired Trump’s decision to run for president. The former president’s taunting words, delivered in front of a high-profile audience, apparently struck a chord with Trump, who then seemingly resolved to prove Obama wrong and secure the presidency.

This insight offered by Rogan sheds light on the complex dynamics that can shape the political landscape, with a single moment of public derision potentially serving as a catalyst for a life-changing decision.
